I am in Portland, Maine, and decided that I would simply be too self-castigatingly annoyed with myself if I did not get out for at least a short run in what is surely the most beautiful running weather in one of the prettiest towns in America.
Ran down to the harborfront, which is a bit too crowded and touristy to produce blissful running conditions (overly crowded sidewalks!), and then to a truly lovely path that is called the Eastern Promenade Trail. Turned around at East End Beach.
Must make sure to exercise more this week than last - I cannot plunge into a truly focused and extreme fitness regimen until I get back to Cayman, but I can certainly do better than I have done this last two weeks - even half an hour is better than nothing!

I *should* go for a nice run along the water in Hawaii, but alas, I have never been good at this running on vacation thing!
I felt the same way about today's weather (though I'm at home in Chicago, not on vacation), so I went out and kept extending my run along the lakefront path. I was going to go six miles, then decided on eight, then realized that if I went ten, I could stop in the middle and see the penguins at the Lincoln Park Zoo . . . then at the turnaround point I decided to go another mile . . . and then at the end of my run I decided to tack on two more miles to make it a half-marathon. Farther than I've run since my last marathon, in 2007, and it was wonderful.
Enjoy the trees in Maine--the ones here are beautiful enough, so I expect Maine's are amazing.
I would like to run there one day!
