Quick afternoon run

Almost talked myself out of it due to time pressure and troublesomeness of showering, but I am glad I went out anyway: 3.18 mi., HR avg 155, 9:22 average speed, definitely under 8:00 pace for the last three quarters of a mile or so.

(I need more run frequency, which will mean doing short ones like this where I can fit them in. It is pure foolishness to think a three-mile run is not worth bothering with, that's a very reasonable distance for a fourth and fifth run in the week, which are the ones I have not yet systematically been able to build in.)

(And now I really must go or I will be late!)

You may have written about this someplace, and if so I apologize, but you use a pedometer, right? What kind do you use?

No apologies needed! I've got the Polar HR monitor with footpod. The short version is that I like it very much EXCEPT that it is very frustrating to get the information onto the computer (the technology is flawed); more thoughts if you follow the link below...

Well, I think that you are right to think that almost any run is worth doing--my cousin, who has a doctorate in "wellness" (which sounds very 19th century to me) says that research shows that all activity goes into the overall calculus of fitness, not just the long runs/swims/bikes, etc. I find that doing almost anything is better than missing a day. Perhaps it is withdrawal from the endorphins? Plus, 3 miles is my daily run, so I was awed by the idea that it would be so short that you might consider not doing it! I'm heading out in the pouring rain for 20 minutes just to say I did-so kudos to you for 3 miles! (And SO fast!)(Compared to me, that is).

Well, I hope that you have/had a very enjoyable run in the rain! Speed is immaterial, it's the running that's enjoyable at any speed...
