Thurs.

Just 1hr as 1:1, very nice (chilly!) - leaving for London in an hour, need to eat, shower and pack in that span, better not linger online! This is tomorrow's run done today, so that tomorrow is simplified in terms of getting on with research things....

Wed.

Funny and good exercise day. Morning was 1:10 with work set written as 6 x (1min mod-hard hill, 3min easy), but I didn't have immediate hill access so really it was a bit of a hodgepodge. Managed to extricate myself in the evening from the Institute for 9pm 1hr Bikram with Coco, I can't do that regularly but I just felt I was going to DIE if I went home without some hot yoga, and it was amazing - she is super-quick, she utters the whole script at top speed in French! I really liked it.

Now must wash clothes - the only wash cycle is two hours and ten minutes, and there's no dryer, so I really do have to get it hanging tonight so that it's dry(ish) enough to pack tomorrow morning....

Mon.-Tues.

Had a fairly arbitrary fit of stress yesterday that is almost certainly the cause for wheezy lungs this morning. Anyway, all good:

Mon.: 15 mins PT/ball release in am, then at long last back at Delphine's excellent 1.5hr yoga therapy class in the evening
Tues.: 1hr as 1:1 (pretty nice), will go to Robin's 5pm hot hatha. Should then go to a fellow fellow's event at the American Library but it may be too much for me, I will wait and see....

[ED. Had another explosion of stress at the office - a glitch re: BL access requests required some crazy scrambling - and I can really feel the wheeze - no yoga for me tonight I think. Need to calm down!]

Sunday

Nice end to the week: 40 as 1:1, 90 mins hot yin-yang. That's five runs and four yoga for the week - really I want it to be five yoga, and I think I need to reconsider whether it's realistic for me to go to a 7pm class, if I can figure out a way to do it earlier it will go better I suspect....

2 x 75

75 mins jog as 10 @ 1:1, 50 @ 4:1, 15 @ 1:1
75 mins hot hatha yoga

Kind of a perfect day of exercise!

Wed.-Fri.

Wednesday: nice longer one, 75 with 40 as 3:1
Thursday: 1hr as 1:1

No yoga either of these days because of Institute stuff - I kept on working just a little too late for Thursday evening yoga but really I was too tired and underfueled. Need to consider if I can go to a 5pm class instead even if I don't like it as much....

Friday: non-run day (did today's yesterday), 1hr hot hatha - the 1pm class. Will try to get to this one more often, though not next week since I'll be in London....

Tuesday, January 22, 2019

Mon.-Tues.

Monday: non-run day, did quality PT at home, meant to go to back therapy yoga but forgot that it starts at 6:45 rather than 7 - was working away in my office noting that it was 6:20 and then head back down, suddenly saw it was 6:40 and that really I was no longer going to make it! ARGHHHH, but today was better....

Tuesday: weirdly snowy and cold morning in Paris! Did 1hr as 1:1 more slowly than usual due to concerns about slipping (it mostly wasn't an issue, but I get nervous), didn't quite leave time to get ready and ended up taking an Uber to my noon haircut appointment in the Marais, bus back to the office, had some chat with fellows (hospitality drama!) and a brief but effective work session, then 5pm hot hatha 90. Still a little bit sick, postnasal drip was bugging me on run and in yoga, but mostly better, and very happy to be back at it properly. No yoga tomorrow, but I'll do Dominique's hot yin-yang on Thursday evening at 7....

Sat.-Sun.

Just got back from 90 mins hot yin-yang - yoga is finally back ON! Low energy and lingering ailment basically just made it seem a bit stupid still on Friday and Saturday, but today I only had a short run in the morning and this 3pm class with Dominique is one I particularly like. YAY! Really missed it - good reminder of what a great complementary pair running & yoga are, I think this is my best way going forward (w/ possible swimming if I can get my act together).

Fri: 1hr as 1:1 jog-walk
Sat.: 75 mins with 20 as 1:1, 40 as 4:1 (YES!), 15 as 1:1

Thurs/Fri

Thurs is a non-run day which was just as well b/c I was still feeling pretty sick; did quality 22min PT/stretch/ball release in am, decided at end of day that it would just be stupid to go to yoga.

Fri: woke up feeling rather better, did my scheduled 1hr as 1:1, still a lot of phlegm and deep wheeze and not sure it was for benefit of body as a whole, though it makes me crazy to miss a day. Feeling better enough still that I think yoga is not stupid, will see how I feel end of day but current intention is ON.

Thursday

Non-run day, did 22 mins quality PT/stretch and ball release. Lungs pretty poor when I got up, stayed in bed coughing for an hour, but shower steam helped; I would love to go to yoga this evening, but it will not be OK unless I can mostly not cough for 90 minutes, so I will see how I feel closer to the time....

Wednesday, January 16, 2019

Wednesday

Lungs still not good. Did 75 as 20 1:1, 30 4:1, 25 1:1; about 10 mins PT/stretching in my office in the early evening.

Tuesday, January 15, 2019

Monday, Tuesday

Monday: slept all day, went out around 5 to get some provisions (2 x 15min walk - thus acquitting myself of training schedule's request) and did at least a little bit of stretching mid-evening. Back felt great tho post-travel - I have finally seen real serious improvement.

Tuesday: 1hr as 1:1 jog-walk. Just now, about 20 mins of PT/stretch and ball release. Must not grow complacent or back will almost certainly get worse again! Lungs feeling not very good, but Coach David's philosophy is to train through these minor ailments, so I will run with that - certainly missing a run makes me feel really sorry for myself, so it is worth trying....

Sunday, January 13, 2019

Sunday

40 as 1:1. Long night of sleep, that was beneficial, lungs still not great but at a less unpleasant stage than yesterday (tho I am slightly losing my voice). Will do proper PT once I have showered and packed. Long travel day/night!

Saturday, January 12, 2019

Saturday

80 mins early as 30 1:1, 30 4:1, 20 1:1.
1hr yin yoga.

Lung ailment is slightly bothersome, nothing major. Last full day in Cayman - sad to be taking the cats back to the shelter, but also currently DREADING the project of getting them into the carriers! (Yes, I have a plan.)

Friday, January 11, 2019

Friday!

2 x 15 min walk to 6am hot yoga, pleasantly not quite as hot as it is supposed to be! An unprecedentedly cool day in Cayman, daytime high will only be 77, that's amazing...

(Should do some PT in the afternoon at home if I can make myself do it.)

Thursday, January 10, 2019

Wednesday, Thursday

I am feeling very good - the body is strong, stable and symmetrical!

Wednesday: 75 mins early as 20 x 1:1, 30 x 4:1, 25 x 1:1; 1hr hot yoga
Thursday: 60mins easy and early as 1:1; 1hr hot yoga

Switched tomorrow's run in for day's rest because there is no 6am hot yoga class on Thursday (just a power class that while intrinsically good is not good for my back), so tomorrow I'll walk in for the early class as my main exercise.

Tuesday, January 8, 2019

Tuesday

1hr as 1:1 jog-walk easy and early; plus 10:30am hot yoga. Both were very nice.

Monday, January 7, 2019

Monday

Got up extra early so I could have 10 mins dedicated cat-petting time, but somehow I just could not make myself get out the door for hot yoga - 4 or 5 little reasons (sweated so much at non-hot yoga yesterday being a prime one, and that friends of B's were visiting on a cruise and we were going to be outside at the Botanic Park touring the blue iguana breeding program for a big segment of the later morning) rather than one big - so once I'd really left it too late (5:45 - it's 15+ mins walk) I just went for 45 mins walk instead and then did about 25 mins of PT and ball release.

Sunday, January 6, 2019

Sunday

1hr easy and early as 1:1 jog-walk, then 9:30 flow + meditation yoga (75 mins - I barely got a spot, I should have got there earlier - resolutionism!).

Saturday, January 5, 2019

Friday, Saturday

1hr easy and early as 1:1, then K.'s 10:15 para yoga (75 mins). The yoga is great, and I like doing the single-nostril breathing exercises, but I am not sympathetic to the new-agey stuff! Will do a good long PT session once I have showered and possibly taken a short nap (awake in the night for a couple hours and was dreaming scarily and grinding my teeth in the subsequent hrs of sleep, I don't feel well-rested though on balance I probably did get just about enough).

Thursday, January 3, 2019

Wednesday, Thursday

Wednesday: very nice run, 75 mins, still 1:1 but doing faster "1s" in the second half. Decided not to worry about yoga so that I could have the full morning for work time (it was the dreaded cleaner day), had intended a serious PT/glute session in the afternoon but after a very poor night of sleep I ended up sleeping THE WHOLE afternoon from 2-5 while Brent was out. It did mean I couldn't fall asleep easily, and had to take some emergency Benadryl; a bit underslept now (it was a struggle to wake up) but not nearly as bad as yesterday.

Thursday: non-run day, decided that rather than walking I would do a proper PT session with some ball release and glute work. About 40 mins altogether. Will go to 10:30am hot yoga as well.

Tuesday, January 1, 2019

Tuesday

Very very nice 1hr easy and early as 1:1 jog-walk, then an excellent book session at Cafe del Sol. Liked the first forty mins or so of the ashtanga class (it was a 2hr introduction to the full primary sequence), but my cheeriness was deflated once we left behind the standing sequence and moved into the seated ones. My body just isn't suited to it - especially just now, as back and hip were very sore by halfway through (and I think I am going to get on the heating pad once I've showered, hope I have not done something that will trigger a real setback!), but I suspect it appeals mainly to those who are naturally flexible. So my curiosity was partly satisfied (I would like to observe a "real" class sometime and would love to read more about these different styles of yoga and their genealogies), but really I feel no need to pursue!
