Hmmm, I am strongly wanting to run that race one of these days myself - but I agree with the story's drift, that the solitary run through empty streets is far more enjoyable than the one with throngs of people...

Cool story! I ran the second half of the course one Saturday morning and found it very peaceful - I can only imagine how serene it must be on New Year's Day.

That does sound like a nice run. Although I must admit that I have hopes of one day qualifying and racing with the throngs.
